Collaborative Efforts
The history of Chinese Immigrants to what it is now in Canada goes back as far as 20,000 years according to some anthropologists and historians. In the past 300 years, there has been another migration of Chinese immigrants directly from China. The treatment of Chinese Immigrants historically and in modern times is the focus of this documentary.
Our program will look at the historical perspective and talk with Chinese elders who lived through some of these times. A panel of Chinese and Aboriginal leaders will examine the common ground in both their pasts and the treatment of the hands of the European settlers and the power elite. Our program will also look at the ways in which Chinese immigrants have made a life for themselves within the dominant culture. .
